2013 Season Update – Please read!!

Hello Players, Friends, Fans and Family of the WSL!

Just wanted to give you all a quick update to the 2013 Season.

As many of you may, or may not know, the Parks Department have put up a gigantic fence around McCarren Park which looks pretty dang scary. But don’t get your jock straps all in a bunch, ladies! The boys will definitely be out there this summer for y’all to ogle.

Thankfully, one of our own, Rebecca Hofherr (thank you, Rebecca!!!) called the Parks Department and was able to get through to Edwin, who is in charge of McCarren. He said that the Parks Department is planning on getting that light pole out of there, but had to subcontract the work to a company that is going to do it. The company doesn’t want any kids, hipsters or dead Polish drunks playing on the light post, so they put the fence up around the entire park for safety reasons.

Edwin says that we indeed have the permits, we are good to go, he loves our league, loves Godsy (and his pies – I made that up) and we have nothing to worry about.

As of now, they are going to be doing construction until Mid-March and will have the light pole removed DEFINITELY in time for Opening Day.

However, this is going to put a cramp into our Spring Training Schedule, which I was hoping to be able to start at least the 2nd Week of March, so we’ll all just have to keep our eyes peeled for when the fences come down and then we’ll announce Spring Training. Let’s HOPE we can begin it around the 10th or at best the 17th of March. Plus, I spent all this time making a damn Spring Training logo and I’d love to put it to use.

As for the Regular Season, Opening Day is scheduled for April 7th.

So, circle that date on your calendars. The schedule is being put together as we speak and hopefully we’ll get that up on the site soon.

P.S. And again, thanks to Rebecca for making friends with Edwin. He was very kind and helpful and sounds like they’ve become best buds. We’ll be able to plan some fun things this summer, so be sure to tune in!
