St. Anselm

Team Captain: Pete Hoffman
Championships: 2004

St. Anselm (formerly Arena Rock, Mendoza Line, Brooklyn Bowl, and Impose) is one of the original expansion teams when the league grew to 8 teams in 2002.  Managed by Pete Hoffman, they have been to three league championships, winning once.

Charmingly nicknamed The Boo Cakes – a reference to a beautiful display of affection between several consenting adults –  they are known for their tight defense and perfectly timed offensive explosions. Defensively, they have consistently been among the team leaders in least runs allowed. Offensively, they prefer to score their runs in bunches, scoring over and over again in unison. Unfortunately, they haven’t excelled in the playoffs over the last few years, losing heartbreakers to the 86ers and RBar the last two years.

The Boo Cakes will be a new look squad in 2016. They lost stalwart centerfielder, beloved former commissioner, and north division namesake, Joe Godsy, to his new life in New Jersey. He will be sorely missed after playing in the league since 2003 and single-handedly transforming this beer league into the competitive community gem it is today.
