The forecast looks fantastic in Week#6! There are plenty of chances for underdogs to turn their seasons around. Also, both division leaders will have their mettle tested with their spots in jeopardy against the 2nd place contenders. What an exciting weekend coming up!

11AM

Pete’s needs to kick up the offense this week if they want to beat the Mendoza Line, period. 2d Chance stood their ground against the defending champs last Sunday, but face another tough competitor in Good Co. to start out the day.

1PM

Reel2Reel might have only gotten their first win last week, but the rest of their games have been really close, I’m thinking that 3Kings are going to have their hands full now that R2R has tasted victory!

Dan Cho, BL’s new shortstop rallying his new team after a huge win!

Over on field 2, it’s RBar vs Loggers, but tuck those DLo Logger throwback jersey’s back in your treasure chests. She’s out this week and so are a handful of Bums so The Loggers might have an advantage out there this week, but remember what happened to Spike Hill last year when they thought the same thing. I’m definitely going to be on the sidelines for a BL meet & greet. The Loggers posted some seriously impressive numbers in Week#5 and pulled off quite a shocker.

AT brings their own rhythm section wherever they go.

3PM

Now here’s something to talk about! We’ve got the four top teams in the league fighting for first place in this slot. Black Betty has climbed up out of the basement and is trying to steal the #1 spot in the South away from the Turkey’s Teachers who just got settled in. I feel sorry for the ump assigned to this game. Let’s take it easy on him.

In the North, there will be only one team in the WSL that moves on with an undefeated club after today. AT gets back to back Game of Week status…great, now they are totally going to blow up the FB page. But what can I do? Spike Hill feels pretty confident they can take ‘em. (They are terrible at being humble.)

5PM

Soft Spot got thrown for a loop last week and now face Clem’s. Clem’s might not be the favored team here, but they always pull off a few shockers every season. This is a dangerous match-up for the Yeti’s if they can’t find their bats.

The Gibson/Turkey’s Nest game will probably be more about who can get in the recap than who can win the game! Be ready for crazy antics in abundance.

- Carly

Only two undefeated teams left in the League and they are both in the Northside division. Congrats to Spike Hill & The AT All Stars on staying perfect through week #5. Here’s how shit went down on Mother’s Day.

11AM

Soft Spot and TNT started out the day on field one, TNT’s offense exploded for a 12-0 lead in the first two innings in a game that saw some spectacular defensive plays in the outfield by both squads. Judd “the Studd,” Andre Rivera and Kristen “The Wolf” all went 4-5 and combined for 9 RBI’s with The Studd homering in the 9th to seal the win. Matty “Mudd” McCabe recorded his first W of the season pitching 5 strong innings, Team Manager Haz pitched 4 innings of relief to get the save as TNT moves into the top spot in the South!

Holland says, “Who the hell are these people?!” Meanwhile, Morgan helps Jake out of a potentially embarrassing booger situation.

On field two, The 86ers gave the Spike Hill crew a run for their money despite playing short a dude. It was 6-2 until the 6th, when SH tacked on a bunch of runs. O’Malley has settled into his new role as starting pitcher and some game highlights go to Lebron, Sparkles & Powell for nice outfield plays. At the plate Jakey-Poo had two homers, Leo had one, and Annie smacked in her 2nd of the season to represent the girls on the board! Andre of 2nd Chance also hit his first of the year.

1PM

Black Betty faced off against Battle Ship Clemerica. The bet this time? Two cases of beer to the Betty if they win, OR if they lose, Camarra has to wear Breeze’s jersey around ALL WEEK. Let’s see: Camarra Wearing Breeze’s Jersey…or Camarra Drinking Beer. I think you know where I’m going with this. There was no way Camarra was going to let a couple cases of free beer pass his way. Clems played hard against the Betty, keeping it close for six innings as the game was tied. The Betty then woke from their slumber and began to hit and got the victory! The Betty looks forward to their beer!!

In the North, The Nest got their throw-backs back and showed 3 Kings they’re back in business. John Louis didn’t let that WWF loss effect his game as he smashed in 3 bombs to prove brawn over brains in week #5 and move up into contention on the board. Jordan’s official status went from “in a relationship” to “engaged,” to his lucky lady Nydia. Congrats to him and his new cat!

Jay Silver is back in full effect. Knocking in a dinger to get right into the contest!

3PM

On field one, The Mendoza Line finally goes down and Joe Godsy gets the recap of the week spot. “They [The Brooklyn Loggers] just played reallllly fuuucking good, and you can print that.” And he aint lyin’. Here are some team stats from an up-start Loggers team that had one hell of a day, all provided by veteran Jen10:
-Mike Brenes (2B) – turned 2 double plays, went 3-5

-Alex Rivera(LC) – turned 1 Double play, nailing a guy at 1st after making a running catch in the outfield. Went 3-5, 4 RBI

-Brian Pisanelli (LF) Went 4-5, 2 RBI

-Dan Cho(SS) Went 4-5, 3 RBI

-Tony Basile (P) Went 4-4, 2 triples, 4 RBI

Loggers totals: 31 hits, 20 Runs scored. All but 1 player had multiple hits, and we had 2 7-run innings.

Wow, looks like the Loggers are back!! Great day and a great win, indeed!!

AT Celebrates Their Victory by looking for Gblack's contact lense that fell out.

Meanwhile, what we thought was the Game of the Week, still did not disappoint! Back and forth lead changes all game in a real heated contest. Mike V & Rookie Shane both went down and out in the 1st inning on diving plays leading to injury. Feel better guys! One thing that I remember is that Wally made one hell of a snag at 3B, drawing a round of applause from both sides to head into the bottom of the 9th down two. While we don’t have a photograph of it, Holland was able to draw a picture of it from memory. And yes, he WAS smiling while he made the catch. Good Co was able to knock in one run but couldn’t finish them off. AT keeps a firm hold on the number one North seat and currently stands in first place in the league. Congrats on an awe inspiring start to 2012!

The real star of the day were Carly's personalized Nike's!

5PM

Reel 2 Reel showed off with a bunch of fancy hitting to snatch-up their first win of the season against the Gibson. Big props to Shortz who had all hits all day and some great plays at 2B for bragging rights back at the bar.

I know what you're thinking: How the hell can that sign hold Slappy??

Meanwhile, RBar also recorded their first W of the season after Pete’s jumped out to an early one nothing lead. The Rbar responded with 9 runs in the next two innings highlighted by Slappy’s first triple of the season. The Bums strong hitting was highlighted by a long HR to right by Josh. The Bums had over 20 hits as a team including four apiece by Slappy and Rich, and 3 for Josh Rodriguez.

After the game, the after party was held at the Rbar which included a finishing of an entire bottle of Rumplemintz, A Summer of 69 lift, a Mexican Hat dance, and a push-up contest between Ceasar and “Gerard” of AT.

- Carly

Holland’s 2 Cents:

Just wanted to let you all know that the If The Season Ended Today, Who Would You Play section is updated. Also! Please be sure to send me your scores at the end of the game and try to confer with your opponent that they’re accurate. Half the time neither are the same and I don’t know whose to chose. I don’t want it to come down to RF or RA at the end and a team has a wrong seeding due to incorrect final scores. Finally, what are you going to do on a boring, rainy Tuesday after you read this update? Play this game of course! Enjoy!

We are halfway through our division play and things are really starting to heat-up! Spike Hill can curse the rain all they want, but AT and Mendoza Line are still on top of their respective divisions heading into Week Five. And Good News! It’s supposed to be a beautiful day.

Soft Spotters Winston and April!

11AM

Soft Spot took their first loss last Sunday, but still sit in the upper half of their division and have the least runs against. They face 2nd seat Southie’s TNT who have really hit their stride after moving Haz into their starting pitcher rotation. Pizza’s taking this one personal.

On field 2, Champs Spike Hill better take it easy on the 86ers. Spike is tied for 2nd for team Dingers with pretty much everyone on the team scratching a notch in their bat….too bad all the bats belong to “Opposite Field” O’Malley. Yeah, yeah, we hear ya, but the ladies still love the boys that hit the long ball. Fact.

1PM

Talk about coming out swinging! Black Betty has 14 HR’s on the season and sit in 1st place for the team contest, and not only does Becker top the leader board with 4, but Super Dave has an impressive three of his own. BUT….Dun, Dun, Dun, Dun…Clem’s shocked the Black in their last meeting and feel confident that they have them all figured out. We will see.

Veteran Sam Turner helps Good Co turn it around in 2012!

The Nest showed up last week with some fancy new shirts as well, going old school with the logo, but I’m not sure that it matters since they were all stolen from field one after the game. This week they take on 3 Kings who are looking to stay above .500.

3PM

Field One: Logger Jesse wears a belly shirt…’nuff said. In the North, AT is still unbeaten and still in first place and now playing in the Game of the Week against Good Co! The Pink took a tough loss last week against the defending champs and are looking to bounce back. Gerald must be losing sleep…I mean Cesar and Jake??? What does Jake have that he doesn’t??.

RBar's Knight in shining armor!

5PM

In the last Southside game of the day, Pete’s and RBar are both looking to gain some ground after slow starts. Pete’s is going to bring the momentum from last weeks win over to this Sunday, and it looks like RBar is going to have to break-out their secret weapon lil’ Greg to help them get the victory!

On Field Two, Gibson vs R2R – Oh, It’s ON!

Don’t forget to call your mom!

First off, Lauck of R2R and Joe G. get a shout out from Pete’s and Loggers for doing an amazing job on how they earthed field two back into playing condition in time for gametime. Apparently, it looked like a swamp around the plate and at short. Also, am I the only one to notice that there were about a thousand butterflies dapping about the surface of the fields this week? I bet it’s because of all the kick ballers showing up for their opening day, despite the 65 degree weather, with their daisy dukes on. Those Boyz are crazy, I tell ya!

11AM

Kicking off the North, Gibson and 3K fought out a tight game with a lot of great defensive plays on both sides. Raja Price never gave up on his Kings, rooting them on relentlessly through the 9 innings despite having a concussion. The Gibson’s offensive was obviously affected by the late morning glare from the Candystores new uni’s on field two, and left the tying run on 3rd to take another close loss, 6-7. Pete’s got geared up for game #4 after an orange tinged butterfly landed at Sam’s feet while dressing up for the game, an obvious good omen….or is it?? (didn’t quite work out for R2R! Kill that sucker next time!!) Anyway, Pete’s debuted their newest, bestest uniforms and their first W. The BL’s posted seven runs late in the last two innings, trying for a comeback, but Pete’s didn’t even realize it until Monday morning. They take ‘em 16-10.

D-Skittle!

1PM

On field one, defense and pitching were the name of the game for TNT’s win over Clem’s, 7-5. The NesterToos held on to a thin lead all day. Offensive kudos go to Judd “the Studd” who had a 2-run homer, and Mike “Angry Man” Sill who was 4-5 with three doubles as the lead off hitter. Clems refused to comment (…with anything postable.) AT remains in control of the North with a strong outing against the 86ers! All Star 3B Daniel’s recap of the week goes, “We played gud D, yo, but not much more to report, Coz!”

3PM

Reel 2 Reel is now not only hanging out at the Gibson in numbers, but trying to move down into their territory in the bottom of the Northside division, as well. Alright! We’ve had enough! Stop trying to steal our identity!! Mendoza Line pulls off another sizy day at the plate to stay perfect and on top of the south. RBar has another slow start to the season and has yet to record a win. Sorry for stating the obvious, but obviously no one sent anything worth stating.

Patrick, from Good Co, owes us a pic. Until then, we're using this.

5PM

In the Northside match up of the day, Spike Hill lead the whole game, but Good Co kept lurking back and cut it down to within one in the eighth before Spike had a late game rally to take it home. Sam Farnsworth hit two homers, and Leo and LeBron hit one a piece. Rookie, Mitchy Sparkles made about 5 running catches deep in LF which really made the difference. He misses one of those and it’s a whole different ballgame. Great hitting on both sides and most importantly, Jakey-Poo had a fun time curling up with Cesar for a little post-game lovin’. Back to field one! After a BP warm up consisting of hurdling over a hipster-frisbee dog tripping up the Betties and the Yeti’s while trying to play and pee on the field, these two rivals capped off the day with a nail-biter. Betty steals it by one, and SpongeBeck climbs two more rungs on the 2012 HR ladder. Both bombs combining for about 600 feet!

Highlight from the WWF Victory!!

After Party was definitely at the Gibson!

I’d like to take this opportunity to dedicate this recap to my most recent Words With Friends Victim, John Louis. HAH! If there’s one thing I don’t lose is WWF games, well except for against Adam Cac. from RBar…I think he cheats.

ttyl,

11AM

Starting out on Field 2, The 3 Kings face their favorite team, The Gibson! 2 of the Kings losses come from the clubs in the top three seats in the Northside division, so I wouldn’t count them out yet! They’ll be looking to make a statement on the HR Leader Board this week, but the Gibson had a rough game #3 and won’t be looking like that anytime soon. Pete’s @ Loggers – Field 2: Pete’s will be unveiling their new uniforms, finally, 4 weeks into the season…maybe. If PCS doesn’t record a win this week, we may have to test them for performance anti-enhancing drugs.

Smilin' Mickey Rosegrady - The Soul and Smile of AT

1PM

AT has really made their mark in the North and go up against The Saloon who are still struggling for their first 2012 victory. The All Stars are still on top thanks to some key hitting from their boy Mickey Rosegrady who must be batting like .900, but they have allowed a lot of runs so the 86ers stand a Chance. On Field Two Clems took a tough loss last week against a hot hitting ‘Doza. TNT refreshed with new uniforms to steal a big win from the Bums. This is anyone’s game!

3PM

Has Reel 2 Reel lost their swagger? We’ll find out this week when they face these Turkeys. I wonder how much Shafer is going to offer Steve for that sweet Turkey’s Nest letterman jacket? After all, it matches his white glove! Big game on field 2, Mendoza Line ended RBar’s play-off run when these two Southside rivals last met. The Bums are going to need their full squad this week if they want to stop the hard-hitting ‘Doza boys who have already racked up 34 runs this season, 8 of which went yard. Did Jay Silver retire or something?? Say it aint so!!

Yes...we know. You two are incredibly good looking. We get it already.

5PM

We all, and by all I mean just the people at that going away party @ Good Co last season, wondered how this team would fare this year without the most underrated player in the history of the WSL, Matt Herman, who moved to Fiji or something. But the Co. made some great off-season deals and are really lighting it up in twenty-twelve, which they are dedicating to Herman’s softball memories. (I made that up, but it’s a good idea right??) They got Spike Hill this week and are all the fuck riled up. Well, except for Stacy and Wally who are too busy posting cutesy-cuddly pics of themselves in various neighborhood establishments on FB.

This is what Andy Becker looks like after a few Big Buds and he takes his shirt off.

Over to field two! Soft Spot has only allowed 6 runs on the season and that is looking pretty spectacular since the rest of us are giving up double digits. This week we’ll see what they got against Black Betty who’ve knocked in 44, the second most in the league. Becker has his team back on course and with a win this Sunday they could move up into a more comfortable top spot in the Southside division. This is sure to be the game of the week since SpongeBeck already has accumulated quite a fan club! (Join the Andy Becker fan club @ www.WSLSpongeBoobs.com!)

Aight, that’s it, except for one more thing…

http://www.flickr.com/photos/81844861@N00/7136759921/in/set-72157629951383851/lightbox/

Could anything be any better than this pic of Kelly Southerland of Spike Hill and Matty No Times of Three Kings?? I think not. By the way, all these ridiculously awesome shots of us all playing out are final glorious softball moments are for sale at reasonable prices from Erik Pendzich!

- Carly

P.S. And if this freakin’ league couldn’t get any more exciting. The Home Run Leader Board is now up and Live! Also, you’ll notice a little banner to the right asking “If the season ended today, who would you play?” Click that and it’ll take you to our 2012 WSL Play-off format. Obviously, this will change MANY times over the course of the season, but it’s something fun to look at and think about. Remember, all teams are thrown into a big pool and ranked 1-16 depending upon number of wins, winning pct. then Runs For. So, if the season ended today…who would you play??

Man! Talk about a BlastAThon! Players came out to make a statement in week three and most of you did! The 2012 HR Leader Board will be updated shortly to reflect all you sluggers hitting it out of the park!

Until then, let’s get to the recap!

Big Bud Drinking Champs for the Day!

11AM

Soft Spot’s exceptional defense, lead by Jason and Steph (Baby-Boy), was too much for Pete’s. After seven tight innings, Mister James Toolan punished his former team with a towering shot that cleared the foul line on the opposite field, providing a few insurance runs, and the Yeti’s win their second straight. But PCS are the champs for buds consumed on the day! In the North, Good Co dump trucks the Gibson 30-5. Great outing for the Pink Ladies who had a ton of hits between the three of them, and two home runs for what’s his name.

The A&M Girls!! These ladies go deep and hit bombs!

1PM

Breaking Northside News! Two SH ladies get their first entry onto the HR leader board in Week #3 with a homer a piece. Annie & Morgan welcome to the Big-Boys Club! Not to be outdone, Kelly, Leo and Gooooo Jake, also dinged in their firsts to put Spike up into that team contest thing, and in for their 2nd win against 3 Kings. On field one with the Loggers and Black Betty. The Betty was victorious thanks to Upper Decker Becker! He is Back and he’s Bad! Dude hit for the cycle, and then added two MORE HR’s and escaped before I could snap a pic in his first game of the season!

Steve: Owner of the Nest, shows his pride.

3PM

The All Stars stay perfect in a grind-out early season classic. They lead early against Reel 2 Reel, who are still struggling for their first win. The Reelers battled back with two huge LF bombs and took control with a big 7-run inning, but the All Stars chipped away behind solid veteran pitching by Jimmy Two Strikes and a game saving throw at home plate by Smilin’ Rosegrady. Next time AT would shine would be for the victory, with a walk off double by The Turkish Tornado with 2 outs in bottom of the 9th. On field one, even Steve ventured out of headquarters to watch his boys steal their first W on the season from the RBar in the battle of the Blues. Merhaut blasted in his first HR as a Bum to make it 9-2 in the 6th, but TNT proved slow and steady wins the race. Southsider Haz gets the recap of the week spot from here with the dramatic comeback win of the day, after he entered the game for 2 innings of scoreless relief! Trailing the whole game TNT chipped away at RBar’s once 9-2 lead, our new pitcher Matty Mudd (In 2013, low-rise, bell-bottom jeans will be incorporated into their uniforms! http://mymuddworld.com/) overcame a ton of runs to keep us in the game. Then in the bottom of the ninth Trish P. did it again with a 2-out 2 RBI single for our second walk-off win of the year! Looks like the new Nest has a new Trish of their own, way to be clutch, girl!

Mendoza Line vs Clemerica: An original recipe for disaster!

5PM

Jordisco, deserves a game recap of his own after and off season of push-up powering-up to help lead the Turkeys to their first victory of the year! In the second inning, the *Original Nest laid a 20-spot on Al Buttah and the Saloon. And no, we’re not talking about John Louis giving Bauman an Andrew Jackson to procure a round a foamies from the bar; we’re talking 20 runs scored in the Turkeys half of the inning. The final was 34 to 7 and, yes, by the fifth, there was a 20-dollar round of foamies, too. A girls gotta ask though, what’s up with our 2011 HR Weiner going O’fer? South on 2, Clem’s put a scare into the ‘Line by coming out of the gate with one line drive single after another, and after two home runs they led 8-2 in the second. But Mendoza rallied with a grand slam by rookie Chad Ostrom, his second homer of the game, and they never looked back. 31 hits and 5 homers later, order was restored, and the Battleship falls to ‘Doza once more. Breeze loses another bet and owes the Line A White Castle Crave Case! Free sliders in Week#15!

- XO! Carly

P.S. If you want your team mentioned, or one of your players played fantastic and you want to get it into the weekly recap, please let us know! There’s only so much we can cover (or remember!), so please feel free to reach out to Carly and give her a recap and we’ll be sure to get it up on the site! Thanks!! – H

Well now that we’re done stomping and pouting around the office for the past week, grumpy for not getting our previous Sunday fix – we can move on to week#3 and good news, the weather looks like it will behave and we can all, thankfully, get back down to business!

Mitcha Park Peace is ready to rumble against the Men in Pink

11AM

The Yeti’s will take no sugar in their coffees this AM, they want to save their sweet-tooth for this early Southside match-up against the CandyStore! On Field Two…watch out Good Co, Gibson’s never beat you, until now! AND we’re not going to hit it to Wally, so go ahead…put him on the bench.

1PM

The Loggers get a real taste of the South in their first of two games against Betty this season. The Loggers are just killing it in the HR contest with 6 on the season; they got their 2nd game in last week, but it’s still an impressive number…must be driving Cesar bonkers! On field two 3K vs SH.

RBar looks pumped up and psyched for softball!

3PM

Mickey Rosegrady and the All Stars face Reel 2 Reel who just squeezed out a win against AT when they met in last season’s cross-division play, if I remember correctly…but I’m not really sure though since Holland “forgot” to save the scores from last season, hmm…how odd! RBar needs to live up to all the preseason hype and they have their chance against a shaky TNT. I’m calling this the Game Of The Week ! I’ll see you all there after I pick up a couple of styrofoam cocktails.

5pm

Where’s Breeze going to get his pregame scouting report from for this match up?! I’ll have to give it to him now, I guess: Mendoza hits a lot of home runs. In fact, my ESPN sources tell me that Magic Johnson offered up “bust” Pujols in trade for Godsy and the new Pretzel Guy, but the ‘Doza management wisely refused. Also, word on Bedford, from not as reliable a source (the chick downstairs at the wine shop), is that the Kickballers get a cart of free Big Buds from The Nest every week. I think The Turks might be holding out on us all! The 86ers like free beer, too, how about a round on The Nest if 2nd Chance can show you boys up?! I mean, you do now have two rich & famous teammates.

After week #3, Spring Fever should really be kicking in, Ladies…I look forward to discussing who’s on your fantasy teams.

Just for you hardcore ballers that showed up and hit the fields despite the soggy day.

Only two games were squeezed in. You both deserve the Recap of the Week spots!

AT sits atop the North…for now.

Gerald: A rainy start to Week# 2 saw AT battle 3 Kings in a showdown to stay unbeaten and atop the north division standings. It was a slow start for AT falling behind 4-0 but were able to pull it even in the 4th with a 2 out rally. Then The Allstars pulled away in the 7th and didn’t look back. AT welcomed back their co-captain Justin Moench from the DL who went 4-4 with 2 RBI’s. AT also tallied their first entry into the HR Derby with Brian Belluomini smacking one in in the wet but satisfying victory.

Loggers blow-up TNT

James Mort: The Loggers won a wet one yesterday with a final score of 20-12. They took the early lead and never gave it up with some steady hitting from the team and a few blasts from an injured Alex Rivera(A-Riv). We also saw the return of the legendary Tommy Paterak who added his own hitting highlights along with Jeff X, Al Chiano and the rest of the gang. Jesse Bates pitched a gem keeping the Turkey’s Teachers off-balance in a rain-soaked game. The Teachers kept it close throughout but the Loggers were able to stay one step ahead through nine, short, wet innings.

Then the Commish called it a wash out and everyone went bowling.

‘Til Friday!

Good news! Jordan was not missing after all, but just late getting back from brunch. He will be back to the park this Sunday, but he won’t be needing his neon sunglasses since after a three month long drought the weather has finally decided to shower down on Sunday Week#2 to rain on our parade. Here’s a quick look at what we have in store if we’re lucky.

11:00AM

Four scrimmages later…AT finally gets to play the 3 Kings in a game that counts. It’ll be the Kings big bats against the All Star defense in this early bout. Both are looking for a 2nd win. In the South, The Brooklyn Loggers face TNT so get over there and introduce yourself to all the new Turkey’s teachers over there. The Loggers gave up the most runs in week one but they played against the HR leader, so don’t count them out!

1PM

Mendoza Line and Soft Spot combined for a total of 6 homers and 26 runs last Sunday to start the season with a bang. Also, the Yeti’s were toughest on D only giving up 3 runs to the RBar. The Camarra Project has paid off for Toolan who looks like he might be a contender in this year’s HR contest.

Al Bidness is taking care of business as one of WSL's Best Umps!!

Back North, we have Turkey’s Nest and Good Co. in the Game of the Week! Tripping up in week#1 is only going to make The Nest play harder and they like being in the headlines. But Good Co had a strong outing against Reel to Reel, and are looking like a solid new organization. Wait until Cesar gets hold of John Louis’ 36oz bat! You’re not going to want to miss it! Keep your shirt on Sam, you’ll probably have to wait until next Sunday for this one.

3PM

First Place Clems spanked in the most runs opening day but Pete’s will prove to be a tougher match up. Can’t wait to see what these boys really got going this season. For their pitchers sake, we hope the new Candystore uniforms won’t be tye-dyed target patterns, but I’m patting myself on the back for that great idea!

In the South, it’s Mark’s R2R vs O’Malley’s SH. 2011 Champs Spike Hill have their eye on win#2 in the midday match-up, but Reel 2 Reel is always a tough out for them. Pitching will be as important as winning as these two old teammates face off for bragging rights over beers after the game at the Gibson…which will all end up on Mulcahy’s tab regardless.

Ado is back in Gibness!!

5PM

The Gibson needs to tighten up on D if they are to stand a chance against 2nd Chance. The 86ers made some amazing outfield plays last week, we heard, but let me stop buttering them up.

Southside! Southside! RBar, our vote to win it all in the WSL voters poll faces, huh, our pick to win the South, Black Betty! Merhaut won four championships next to Holland on Black Betty before being lured over by the Bums. They face off for the first time since and both teams are in search of their first win, best of luck to them both!

Too bad we’ll miss all the action while we’re at the Gibson/2nd chance game, go figure!

Rain Blows.

Well, you voted, we counted, and we spent half our day trying to figure out how to use Excel to make pie charts on our fancy new computers at work that we didn’t do crap the rest of the day! Oops!

Anyway, on with the tallying!

So, we put up a few votes for you and I am sure none of you will be surprised of their results! We have for you below the results of our completely unscientifically correct voting results for 2012. Many of you voted, some of you didn’t, but I think you’ll find the results fun. Uh, or not.

We asked you who would win the North and it was no surprise that defending champ Spike Hill won the vote with 29%, followed by Turkey’s Nest with 16% and last years pre-season vote winners 3 Kings with 16%. Then we had Phantom with 10% and then Gibson with 8% and then everyone else is too small to read! But, no worries! These votes don’t mean a thing! I think the biggest team overlooked here is A/T who only got 4% of the vote. I just heard they were out scrimmaging the Girl Scout Softball Team right now! I tell ya, those guys will play anyone. Up next, they have a cribbage game against the ladies at the Greenpoint Seniors Club.

Our second vote was What Team Is Going to win the South? For this vote it looks like you chose Black Betty and Rbar to run away with it, giving BB 36% and RBar 30%. Then you have current-first-place-first-time-ever Clems taking 13% of the vote followed by Mendoza with 9%, the Teachers with 8%, Pete’s with 4% and unfortunately Union Pool (apparently We at the WSL did not update the survey reflect their name as the mighty Yetti’s of Soft Spot. My apologies!!! Won’t happen again!) and the Loggers both got 0%. That’s bulletin board material right there…except we don’t have bulletin boards. So, maybe it’s scratchings on the side of a Turkey’s Nest big bud cup material…I don’t know. But, look out for those two teams after what the league thinks of them!

Next we voted on What Team was going to win the whole Freakin’ Thing! It looks like here the BIG WINNER is RBAR! Who won 18% of the vote! Congratulations! Up next is Spike Hill, the defending champs with 16%, followed by last years pre-season voting champs 3 Kings with 14%. My biggest question is how can Union Pool (Soft Spot!!) get ZERO votes to win their division, yet 5% of the vote to win it all??? Gotta give it up to the brilliant minds of the WSL.

And finally, we put up an open ended question that called for YOU to fill out who you think would win the HR Derby contest for the 2012 Season. Initially, we thought this was a good idea, and as the first few votes came rolling in, well, we thought we were geniuses over here the WSL Website. Then…you all decided to get cute. Way to go! So…the winner of the WSL Home Run Contest will be Mr. T!! Congrats to Clubber Lang!! Vote winners are all below. Slappy actually got the most votes of a player that actually plays in the WSL, followed by a bunch of guys from 3 Kings who all have nicknames. Coming in 2nd was “Not Cesar” followed by “Cesar.” There were even a few “Not Gerald’s” in there as well. There were lots of “Me’s,” oh and it looks like Pizza won the vote for who will GIVE UP the most HR’s, even though that wasn’t really the question. But, the crazy thing is…not ONE vote for the Commish?? Hmmm…could he be Mr. T?!?!

Thanks to all those who voted and played!! Now let’s get out there and play ball!!!

- H
