I am very happy to put up my first post of the year. I’m back, baby!
Well, can you believe it?! Spring Training 2017 is ALMOST here.
That’s right, the Summer League ended some 22 weeks ago, that’s 154 days for those keeping score at home and a lot has happened since then. We crowned a new champion – in case you hadn’t heard. We then had a Fall League and have a new champ over there as well. There’s been a lot of movement this off-season and we’ve had a lot of teams upgrade going into 2017. I think this will prove to be one of the most competitive seasons we’ve ever seen in the WSL.
We also have a lot of exciting announcements coming up, and I think if we can pull them all off, this is going to be very cool!
Spring Training will begin this coming Sunday on March 5th at noon. Obviously this is weather permitting, but it’s open to everyone to come down and play and hopefully (if you’re good enough) get picked up by a team. I must state that we do not have permits for the park (no one does) in March, so we’ll have to get there en mass to ensure take over.
We had Rules Committee Meeting, and have voted in some updated rules. Not really any new rules, but just updating to ensure everyone is clear. We also voted for re-alignment which you can see there on the left. But I’m pretty sure you can’t remember who was in your division last year anyway!
We have Manager’s Meeting on March 9th where we’ll discuss a lot of the exciting things that are going to happen this year, but I’ll hold off talking about it until then.
We have Opening Day Party scheduled for Saturday night, April 1st. The Mistress of Entertainment Nat the Bat is organizing that and will be announcing the location and time shortly.
And then Opening Day is Sunday, April 2nd. The schedule is being built and will be up shortly. Keep your pants on!
Alright, with that being said, good luck and let me know if you have any questions!
Let’s gooooooo 2017!!!
