Power Rankings Week 15

Power Rankings: Week Fifteen

We believe we may have an idea that could bring peace to the community (or maybe just add to the dead people on McCarren Park benches). We are currently looking into the cost for an Airline Beverage Cart that someone can roll around from field to field serving mixed drinks to our weary soldiers of softball. Why? Because we are better than Gatorade and Watermelon. We are better than Empanadas. We are better than a can of beer you brought from your house….. We know some teams come properly equipped for a Sunday but many others are just sitting around lucky enough to have a beer to hide when the cops roll by. It’s time to step up our game and bring The Bevy Cart to the WSL. Maybe we can pilot this community outreach program during the playoffs. If you know where to outsource a beverage cart and two flight attendants, please contact Holland immediately. It’s time to start the healing process.

So….. once again,  we bring you a completely unnecessary and a bevy cart dreaming Power Ranking: Week Fifteen

1. Kilo Bravo (Last Week’s Rank – #5, Record 11-4)

After flirting with the top ranking at the beginning of the season, Kilo has finally secured the #1 rank after back to back walk off victories over Clems and #1 ranked Spike Hill. Since their June 19th loss to Black Betty, they are 4-1 with their only loss a 2 run game vs St. Anselm. This ranking might cause a little controversy because Kilo has two more losses than the 2nd and 3rd ranked teams but they earned a week on top after two dramatic weeks of victories with the most recent against the top ranked team.

2. Spike Hill (Last Week’s Rank – #1, Record 11-2)

Spike was up by 4 runs going into the bottom of the 9th against Kilo but couldn’t put the game away. Tough loss for the Spike Hill gang who rode the top ranking for the past 5 weeks. They also fall into a tie for best Godsy Dvision record but own the tie-breaker against Black Betty. That being said, the next 5 Spike Hill games are much tougher than Betty’s last 5. They play Runaways, 3 Kings, St. Anselm, Clems and R Bar with a doubleheader this weekend.

3. Black Betty (Last Week’s Rank – #2, Record 11-2)

After not playing last week due to a last minute cancellation, Betty secured their 11th victory with a five run victory over the Loggers. While it wasn’t an overwhelming victory, the Betty continued their streak of not losing a game this season when they’ve scored in double digits.

4. Clemerica (Last Week’s Rank – #3, Record 10-5)

For the first time this season, the Clems suffered back-to-back losses. They have now lost 3 of their last 5 with a tough match-up against St. Anselm coming up at 10am this Sunday and a big show down against Spike Hill in the last game of the season.

5. R Bar (Last Week’s Rank – #6, Record 8-5)

After suffering a tough loss to a below 500 Runaways last week, R Bar bounced back and beat a solid St. Anselm squad. They have a double-header coming up on Sunday against two low ranked teams that won this past weekend. Their record is not what they wanted it to be a this point but they still have 5 games left to put together a solid regular season record and get ready for the playoffs.

6. St. Anselm (Last Week’s Rank – #4, Record 9-5)

Going into their R Bar game, St. Anselm had won 7 of their last 8 (with the one loss a 1 run loss). They were on fire…. but R Bar likes fires. They built a fire after last year’s championship game. Now it’s time for St. A to face off against Clems who they lost to in the early part of the season.

7. Gutter 86ers (Last Week’s Rank – #8, Record 8-7)

Amazing….. 86ers are one game over 500 after starting the year 3-7. They have rolled off 5 straight wins including last week’s one run victory over Turkey’s Nest. It’s been a pretty remarkable turnaround for a team that found themselves in their name for most of the season. They face the other streaking Godsy North team – RSC – this Sunday.

8. Turkey’s Nest (Last Week’s Rank – #7, Record 7-6)

Same routine for the Nest…. Trading off wins and losses all season… This week was a loss. The week before was a win. The week before was a loss. The week before was a win. The two weeks before were loses. The two weeks before were wins…..

9. Three Kings (Last Week’s Rank – #10, Record 6-6)

After 4 straight loses (included a forfeit), Three Kings bounced back for a 14-7 win over Teachers…. The Three Kings still have 6 games to play (the most of any team) so it’s hard to say where they will end up but they have a tough Spike Hill game this weekend to open up a double header which finishes against a Loggers team that beat them earlier in the season.

10. Bedford Yetis (Last Week’s Rank – #11 Record 6-7)

The Yetis controlled the Clems game from start to finish. Similar to the Nest, the Yetis have gone back and forth with wins and loses all season. They face a Kilo Bravo team this weekend that beat them 40-15 the last time they meet so they will likely be looking for some payback.

11. Roebling Sports Club (Last Week’s Rank – #12, Record 6-8)

Another amazing season turn-around. After starting 0-7, RSC has now won 6 of their last 7 games. If they can find a way to go 3-1 in their last 4 games, they will finish with a 500 record and likely the greatest regular season bounce back in WSL history.

12. Soft Spot Runaways (Last Week’s Rank – #9, Record 5-8)

All that good mojo from beating last year’s champs two weeks ago was lost when they overlooked Gibson this past weekend.

13. Brooklyn Loggers (Last Week’s Rank – #13, Record 5-10)

The Loggers are 1-7 in their last 8 games.

14. Gibson (Last Week’s Rank – #15, Record 3-12)

Big win for the Gibson against the Runaways.

15. Turkey’s Nest Teachers (Last Week’s Rank – #14 Record 2-12)

16. AT All-Stars (Last Week’s Rank – #15, Record 2-11)
