WSL News: Reschedules, Field Crew and more…

Fri, May 13, 2016

“I’m just gonna sit back and see how this goes….”

WSL – we have a few things to cover in this post but the topic that has been on everyone’s mind for the last two weeks will be first… THE WSL SCHEDULE.

First off, a few people have brought up some good points about why the “Reschedule One Game” rule might have a few flaws. It will be revisited next year and hopefully we can find a better solution. Games have always been rescheduled so this year there was an attempt to make it fair to everyone by giving each team one game they could reschedule. We can’t change the rule now so the league will work with it. Most teams have cashed in on the rule already so there won’t be many more of these. Secondly, it’s not a big deal. The league will need to be a little creative with schedules but we will easily get in all the games this summer and won’t need to push back the playoffs. We will have a few Sundays where teams play double headers but that’s fucking great. Who doesn’t want to play a double header? R Bar is playing a double header this Sunday and they are the champs. You want to be a champ one day? Maybe follow in the footsteps of the champs…. Or maybe just enjoy a longer day in the park playing ball.

Ten Game Sundays – Coming in June!

For the month of June, the WSL will go from a 8 game schedule to a 10 game schedule. Instead of starting at 11am, we will start at 10am and go with 10, 12, 2, 4, 6 time slots. This will allow for 4 teams to play double headers each weekend. We are doing it in June to avoid the hot July and August Sundays. Same 9 inning / 2 hour games like always but just a minor shift up an hour. Barring any other rainouts, we will go back to the normal 8 game schedules in July and August. For the latest schedule, go to or click on the SCHED link above.

Need Field Crew Help! Now is your chance to make it right!

After not having a rain out in like 2 years (crazy), several people were disappointed that we didn’t get in some of the games last week. The fields were in bad shape in the morning but if we had a bigger field crew helping out we may have been able to get some of the afternoon games in….. So – we heard you and now it’s time for those that complained to throw their hat into the ring and help get the fields ready. It’s suppose to rain on Saturday night so we will need people to come out early on Sunday and help get the fields together. Sunday is suppose to be rain-free so games will be played as long as the fields are ready.

This is a paid gig so let Holland know if you are interested and be at Field 1 by 8:15am (to prepare for the 9am Loggers/ RBar game). We need at least 2 people. Gerald will be there ready to help you. There is no Field 2 game until 11am so the crew can work on Field 2 after the 9am game has started. You can email Holland at This is serious so let Holland know if you are interested not only for this Sunday but future Sundays as well.

Week 6 Recap

There was only one game that played last weekend. AT and Kilo put their heads together and got a field into decent playing condition. Kilo beat the shit out of AT… The score was 19-1. Not sure we need a recap of this game but based on Gerald’s overly enthusiastic posts on Facebook about the desperate need to get in this game, we can comfortably say that we haven’t seen anyone that excited prior to getting beaten that bad since Dubin signed up for that 12 hand dominatrix massage appointment. There was one highlight for AT. WSL legend Vinny Signorelli returned to action after 5 years to pitch a perfect 1.2.3 9th inning for AT. Best of luck on your future endeavors Vin.

WSL Website needs more writers

We need more writers for the WSL website to help recap games. If you are already playing on a team and wouldn’t mind sparing some of your free time recapping how amazing your team played, please let us know. You can email Holland at and let him know you are interested. This is NOT a paying gig. We do this for reasons even we don’t understand…. I guess it’s tradition…. So be part of a long running tradition of excellence and help us keep the site updated.
