Message from the Commish…

Thu, May 26, 2016

Helloooo Players, Managers and Fans of the WSL!!

Just wanted to post a quick message now that we are approaching Memorial Day Weekend and are 1/3 through the 2016 Season.

Wow!! Already a third of the way through, amazing!

A lot has already happened this year. We’ve had a large amount of postponements (my team included!) as well as a semi-rainout.

While that’s created a bit of a scheduling mess, I really appreciate all of you working with me to help schedule these games. I know it’s not ideal, but I really want to make sure everyone plays all their games, has a good time, and drinks way more than they should.

I am scheduling all these double headers NOW so we don’t have to worry about cramming them into the last 2 Make-Up weeks of the season and god forbid there’s rain, then we’re playing over Labor Day, etc…and it’s a big mess. So, hopefully we’ll get all these double headers in and get back on schedule.

Overall, I think the competition of the teams this year is fantastic. We’ve got a lot of new (and old!) players and the league just keeps getting better and better. It’s such a pleasure to watch some of these teams play.

And speaking of old players, there has been talk of having an Old Timer’s Day combining into our very first WSL Hall of Fame ceremony. I think this is a great idea! As it stands now, we have two Make-Up Weeks this season. I think, if we’re smart and we don’t have a crazy amount of rain outs, we can use the second Make-Up Week, and the one before the playoffs begin, as a day of partying, celebration, Old Timers and Hall of Fame inductions. I’ll plan this out and see what we can do and let you all know ahead of time.

Of course, this league wouldn’t be able to run if not for all the participation of some awesome people. Leo running the umpires, Lou managing the website, all the writers: Belz, Dubin, The Heitcz, Grambo, Nat…thank you! To the grounds crew…uhh, yeah. To Justin for tracking scores and HRs and of course to all the managers and players. Thanks, everyone!!!! We’re making this the best goddamn league in the city!!

Other than that, I hope you all are having a good first part of the season! Have a great Memorial Day Weekend, be safe, be smart, and we’ll see you out there for the start of Double Header Sunday’s beginning June 5th.

Thanks, all!

– H
