Looking Out for One of Our Own: Andy Becker

Fri, Mar 20, 2015

There’s Only One Andy Becker!

Hello Players, Fans and Friends of the WSL!

As many of you may, or may not know, one of our former players in the WSL, Andy Becker, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer. He is currently recovering from a partial colon removal while undergoing several scans and biopsies to determine a chemotherapy treatment plan and the potential need for additional surgeries on his liver. You can read more about his status and treatment on his page his sister set up here: https://andysstupidcancer.wordpress.com/

Andy (first ballot Hall of Famer in the WSL) played for Black Betty and helped bring down the Black Curtain on the league for many years. He moved back to Missouri a couple years back, but has still managed to come into town to visit us, hang out, even win another championship with the Betty.

This kid. This is a good kid. Lots of people have reached out to me to ask what we can do for him. It’s really awesome! And we do need to do something. With that being said, we’d like to dedicate our WSL Opening Day Party to Andy, and see if we can raise some money to assist in his medical bills.

The party is still tentatively scheduled for April 11th. So, I’d like to put together a committee that can assist in coming up with ideas to raise money, to help out, and in general, pitch in so we can have a successful party and fundraiser.

If you are interested and want to help out, please email me here: wslcommish@gmail.com

Even if you just have an idea, feel free to reach out to me. Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Let’s look out for one of our own!

Thanks, all!
