WSL Winter Update from the Commish

Sat, Jan 31, 2015

#truth

Hellooooo Players, Fans and Managers of the WSL!!

Hope you’re all having a great winter. I think it was nice to get away for a while. We began Spring Training last year on March 9th and then played straight through to the Fall League which ended on Dec 7th. That’s over 9 months of softball for the WSL. I think we set a record. Still, it was nice to have a little time off, but I’m raring to go for 2015.

But, with that being said, it’s almost time to start it up again!! Plus, with football ending tomorrow and still a month away from March Madness and NBA Playoffs, what the hell else is there to do in February except wish we were playing ball?? Exactly! So, here goes!

I’ll be meeting with the Managers first week of March. If you’re a manager, you got my email. I’ll remind you repeatedly of this date.

Spring Training will begin on March 8th. This is open to everyone! There are no permits for this so everyone is invited. We had a lot of new really good players get into the league from this. If you want to join the league, come on down and try out. It’ll be every Sunday until Opening Day. To get on a team you’ll probably need to be pretty good and don’t be shy about asking around to see who manages which team and if they need players.

Opening Day for 2015 is April 12th. This is a week later than last year because Easter is on the 5th. But, fret not, we’ll still play 18 games, have a make-up week, playoffs and championship.

This is all I got so far. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

Thanks all! See you soon!
