The WSL needs your help!

Hellooooo Managers, Players & Fans of the WSL!

So, we had a crazy thing that happened over the weekend in the WSL. We were reached out by none other than Playgirl Magazine in regards to sponsoring the league!!

As you can imagine, I was skeptical at first. Not really sure I want to have our league sponsored by their website, but after speaking to their editor, Marty, today on the phone, this is a huge opportunity! If we are interested, they have offered to cover league fees, balls for ALL teams, equipment AND even jersey for all teams in the league. We’re talking thousands of dollars! Thing is though, they would need some of our male players to, you know, pose for their online magazine.

I’ll cut and paste the email Marty sent me:

Hello Commissioner of the Williamsburg League:

Good afternoon! Hope your weekend is going well.

My name is Marty Schlienberg of Playgirl.com and I wanted to reach out to you and your league in regards to our upcoming update. We were brainstorming what we should do for our Spring/Summer edition when the topic turned to baseball. The Boys of Summer are back!

Obviously, we’ve been dying for the season to start, so it was only natural we’d want to showcase it in our upcoming issue. After speaking with my team, we wondered: what if we showcased regular guys (softball players) as athletes so it can relate to the average Josephina?

While discussing, it turns out one of our producers lives in Williamsburg, and he loves to go down and watch you boys play in the league there and he suggested we reach out to you. So, I went on your site and your Facebook page, and I have to say, you all are fantastic! He even mentioned there are some guys he’s big fans of really likes but he doesn’t know who they are, but he knows they’re delicious!

Needless to say, we would cover your fees and whatever we need to do in order to get you in our magazine. I’m sure you have reservations, but if you are interested, please reach out to me and we can speak.

Best, and play ball!
– Marty

Like I said, after speaking with him on the phone, he is very serious, and the amount of money they are offering is pretty ridiculous! He wants to have a meeting on Monday of next week, and he asked if I could bring some photos of some of the guys. I spoke to Morgan, and we’re going to set up a photoshoot this weekend at the Turkey’s Nest. We’re thinking we can do some classy pics in the back by the Buckhunter game. Maybe some with shirts off, or just holding a bat, or something, I dunno, I’ve never done this before. The point is, this could really help the league financially!! I can’t give you anything for this now, but maybe buy you a Big Bud and an empenada.

If you’re interested, and I don’t blame you if you’re a bit shy, but just email me and we can set up something.

Awesome stuff, WSL!!

– H
