WSL Playoffs!!

That  time has finally arrived and the weather is supposed to be fantastic this Sunday! Let’s support all the teams with a great show on the fields before and after our games. Remember for some of us, this is it! Here’s the preview for the first round of the 2012 WSL Play-offs!

11am

#12 Clems @ #5 Reel 2 Reel to kick off the play-offs over on field one. Clem’s seems healthy again but they lost to R2R by 5 in week ten. Clems is going to have to control the day right from the start if they want to upset the Reelers who won their last 4 straight heading into this year’s postseason where they averaged just under 17 runs per game. They are also under new management in a rebuilding year against a close knit Clemmerica who play with a ton of heart and are just dying for a shot at the defending champs. I heard through the grapevine that The Battleship actually tried to lose their last couple to snatch the 16 seed for a chance to knock out Spike Hill in round one….but then they remembered. Gibson.

Shane and Rich of Good Co.

#14 Loggers @ #3 Good Co are next up on the opposite field. Good Co has really brought it together this season and are a solid #3 seed. As long as they all show up, the pinks look like they have the potential to make a deep run! Loggers had a rough time losing two of their major contributors from 2011, but still managed to rack up a couple wins. Plus Brenner has that cool bike. The Philly batting cap…Yeah, this team wins for best field props for 2012! It’s something! Oh, and I got your clipboard playbook.

1pm

#16 Gibson @ #1 Spike Hill. Jake is mad as hell at falling to a tie for 3rd with the commish in the home run contest. Not really, but he’s going to come out swinging, with 3 HR’s in the last game he played against Gibson. Annie is concentrating on Saturday play-offs, but will be there for a body since Morgan is sitting this one out to die her hair. Matt & Finn are having the celebratory brunch before the game even starts. O’Malley is snickering away while filling out a bracket that has The Gibbies winning it all. Brown Noser.

Alex & Kelly of Spike Hill

#13 2nd Chance @ #4 Turkey’s Nest  Field Two is down to, Do, What it takes, To make you, Understand …and I forget the rest. 86ers can you forget those losses reg season to The Nest? Only one run in the last one!  Al Boogie can you break dance? The Nest, last years fan favorites, are looking for another trip to the final four, where they fell to SH.

3pm

#9 Mendoza Line @ #8 Turkey’s Nest Teachers. TNT beat some good teams this year (after a late season collapse in 2011) and that includes Betty, but they were swept by ‘Doza in the regular season. Let’s hope they have all their ladies who just crushed it in 2012. This is going to be a great game and fell just shy of the game of the week. Mendoza are like the Steelers of slow pitch softball. They’re still good after you dust ‘em off a bit…but are they good enough to beat a young, fresh TNT in a desperation game?

#10 R Bar @ #7 A/T  Game of the Week! This is a great match-up! This is going to come down to who is more hungry and if there’s one person who we’ve seen step-it-up play-off time, it’s new Bum Jason Merhaut. A win today will get him a crack at his old club…if Betty can get by 3K in the game across the way. Big Lefty, Bobby, has already tasted victory as the HR winner…could this boost his bat even more?? AT had a tougher schedule though and still came out in the top of the WSL class and both these teams have the confidence that they can get this W. I wouldn’t miss this one if I were you! This is the best bracket challenge we’ve got to date!

Mitchy Sparkles of Spike Hill

5pm

#15 3 Kings @ #2 Black Betty. One Big Question. Where is JB$ and can this Beckerless crew go all the way without them? Camarra and his squad haven’t lost since June and haven’t missed a championship appearance since 2005. Can 3 Kings even make the game or will they just try and call a league vote to postpone the playoffs ‘til January after they finish fall ball?

Scott Kirby of Pete’s

#11 Pete’s Candy Store @ #6 Soft Spot  Another great match-up! Pete’s is riding a win and the Yeti’s are all over the place this year with flashes of brilliance. This one has great potential if these two clubs bring their A Game…but both of them are known for sometimes not.  Ed Carroll & Winston still hit like they’re in their prime and look to be ready to hit the post season with great days at the plate in the previous week! This could be a bracket alert …watch out for Sneaky Pete’s.

Big Papa Dom

With half of us going into our final games this week, I wanted to take a minute to dedicate this preview from the WSL Single Ladies to the 2012 Rookie Recruitment Class, a few of which are pictured here! Hubba, Hubba! Okay, okay Dom is not ”technically” a rookie, but puh-lease…he’s the #1 Mac Daddy in the WSL. Period.

Get your Popcorn Ready!

Holland’s 2 Cents:
People asked me why the hell I put up those lame survey’s in the beginning of the year, asking them who they think is going to win the North, South, the whole thing and of course, the HR Championship. So, for further analysis, here you go!! You voted for Spike Hill to win the North Division, and they came in first. In the South, you voted for Black Betty to win it, and they came in first, so, so far so good. And to win it all? You voted for RBar!! But, the best is the HR Champ and you voted for Mr. T…who came up just a bit short, but coming in second and winning it was Bobby Knapp! And he won! Second was someone from 3 Kings, who didn’t win, followed by Not Cesar…which is also true! Great voting, peeps!

AND DON’T FORGET TO PLAY THE WSL BRACKET GAME!!! COME ON PEEPS!! IT’S GONNA BE AWESOME!!

And for your Anti-Masterbation song of the week, enjoy this PSA in sign language set to R-Kelly’s Ignition Remix. You’re welcome.
