Elite 8 – Preview

Fri, Sep 21, 2012

Congrats to the clubs that stepped up in Play-off week #1 to advance and good luck to you all this Sunday! I know that our competitive drives are all riding in high gear, but let’s try not to forget that we all know each other and have been friends for a long time! Let’s root on the lucky bastards that win this Sunday to move into the WSL Final Four!

Capt. Camarra is looking to lead the Betty into the Final Four!

We got the Black vs the Blue to kick off Round two! Betty beat the Bums in both of their regular season matchups…but the last one was close-er… even without HR Champ Bobby, who the Bums rested for that last one. Betty has reinstated big playmaker JB$ off the DL and he’ll be looking, well for the spotlight of course! RBar has definitely warmed up at the end of the season with W’s in 5 of their last 6, but they better have their game plan ready, because the Black beat their opponents by an average of 11 runs in their 15 season wins, and won for most team dingers in 2012 with 38 over SH’s 34. Translation: Betty hit’s the shit outta the ball.

Soft Spot & Good Co both won by a slim margin to make it to the Elite Eight. The Pinks were victorious against the Yeti’s in week #8 with a couple of Mike V HR’s. These teams are a great match-up. Let’s face it Good Co *cough* choked last year in the first round, but they proved their back in full effect with a killer regular season and some great off season roster pick ups. Soft Spot adds new players about as often as The Nest closes it’s doors. The Yeti’s are as close as a team can get and do not like to let each other down. They are the crowd favorite heading into this round. Which probably makes Shirtless want to crush them even more. Ha!

AT will be providing halftime entertainment, I’m sure. Yeah, like you, I don’t wanna know.

Don’t mess with Spike Hill!

Reel 2 Reel could not beat The Nest in either of their regular season meetings. Losing the two by two, but that is sooo close. This one is going to come down to who wants it more, period. They both were only one game away from the Championship in 2011 and still remember the sting. The Turk’s are all over the place so who knows what they’ll bring…no behind the back stuff, I hope! I heard the Skippah is taking a break from his town full of meat-market Starbucks coffee houses to toss back a couple styrofoam foamies so head on over and give him a cheers, unfortunately…now I think we lost Jordan again! Maybe we should a hold a gayest “beard” contest this Sunday!

New League Rule: Stryker is allowed to pitch on every team that is playing against Spike Hill.

The defending champs Spike Hill face the Turkey’s Teachers for the first time this season and I guess this team has somehow flown under the radar for some of us with them being the biggest bracket fault so far. That means that TNT have the element of surprise on their side as they get their chance to knock out Spike early! Unless O’Malley is paying for scouts now….there WAS a suspicious new bum on that bench last Sunday that looked an awful lot like Juan…. I don’t know… Anyway! The Teacher’s have a chance to earn the respect they deserve this weekend. They were in 1st place of the South more than they weren’t all season and are undervalued at the 8 seed. Spike Hill is just freakin’ stacked with young athletes and expensive equipment. Come on! They’re not so bad. Let’s get out there and root someone on! Bring beer.

May the best teams win! (and by “best” we mean the least whiney.)

– Carly

Holland’s 2Cents:
Don’t forget to check where you stand in the brackets so you know who to root for!!
