Week 15 – Recap

Wed, Aug 8, 2012

All right, WSL, I'm ready for my closeup.

Hot enough for ya? My. God. Weekend of the Underdogs!

“Yay recaps! Soft Spot kept it saucy with a big W over the Candy Store.  The story of the day was one Anthony ‘Pizza,’ who pitched through a bad back, tough ribs, and a bruise that made it look like he had a gigantic alien man nipple, and still made it through the game holding a potent offense to 8 runs.  Props to Sam from Petes, who had a lot of hits, and Jason, who scored at least 7 times.  Softball!” Wow back to back recaps from Zak! (but I’m sure that Pizza will mention that Zak forgot that his knee was just surgically fixed somehow.)

Goddarn Pink Ladies! Gibson played a pretty good game out there, but Good Co. were short and forced to play 4 girls on the field for 9 innings and they were just too much for us to handle. Going 6-12 at the plate, the ladies made their company proud with an errorless effort to take us by 3. Except for a single pink run in the ninth, this game was pretty much scoreless from the 5th or so. Mike V would have had a better day at the plate if it wasn’t for the quick zumba inspired reflexes from Leigh Ann who stole him a hit with a dirty snag at 2B! This lady has been playing some great ball! Also, what was up with that weird play from Herman at short when he nailed our 3B Dave with the ball in the shoulder literally from 3FT away?? Haha! Dude, he’s already out.

The Teachers still hold onto first place in the south with a huge effort against the RBar bats, in a one o’clock duel! Fans witnessed some serious home run blasts and the ump said there may have been more homers than regular old hits!  22-16 TNT.

R2R showed up really short on Sunday for a big game against AT, but with only nine on the field they also showed-up with a ton of heart to take AT by four. Never got that pic of Gerald with Shortz and Andrew since the Reelers really wheeled it post-game to get outta the heat and over to the Gibson a/c.

Breeze finds the puzzle that solves the riddle on how to beat 'Doza. Now, if we could only find the one to beat Spike Hill.

Ted from ‘Doza get’s a recap spot for a tough loss against the The Battleship “No HRs for Mendoza, but Markow hit a bomb for Clem’s. Clem’s strung together two serious rallies and made some nice catches at the right time. Mendoza was solid at the plate, and finally came within a run in the bottom of the ninth but it was too little, too late. Pat in CF & at the plate kept us in it; Pete pitched well; I got through my first game in RF in two years with my knee intact. Tough loss. Best I ever saw Clems.” Guess those Big-Bud priced hankies are their lucky charms as Clemerica wins two straight!

3Kings Vs SH. Mitchy Sparkles walks up to the plate and flies out. O’Malley, “You should try not to fly out.” Sparkles, “Thanks, Captain Obvious!” But I’m not allowed to use that for the recap, so I’ll have to come up with something else…. (AndyMac holds onto that beer money!)

Phillies helmet made an appearance!

The Betty and the Loggers faced off in the late game. It was well played between two good teams who go back a long way. Loggers had some good hits, but the Betty is getting hot at the right time, winning their 7th in a row, but still in 2nd behind the Teachers, but will have their chance at a rematch in a couple weeks. The Loggers falls to last place in the south, but with a few more games to go, anything can happen!

The Turkey’s Nest and 2nd Chance were both short key players. Co-Captain Jeff of the 86ers chimed in this week! Thank you, Jeff! “Top 1st, I lead off with a double followed by Miles who hits an rbi single, close play at the plate, head first slide/tumble at home by me!(like this isn’t a weekly event *wink*) 2-1 after 1st inning. Turkeys put up 5 runs in the 2nd to make it 6-2, Saloon came back in the 3rd with 5 runs of our own to make it 7-6, Turkeys got 3 runs bottom 5 to make it 9-7 and then we came back top 6 with 3 runs, Will finished the scoring with an rbi

single to get Andre home from 3rd, 10-9 Saloon. Now we go all the way to the bottom of the 9th, Will snags a hard hit liner at 3rd for the 1st out, Turkeys put runners on 1st & 2nd, Will again, makes a diving stop, steps on 3rd for the 2nd out.  Next batter, ball is hit to Mallory playing 2nd, she throws to 1st for the Final out!  Saloon Wins!! 4th win out of the last 5 games, 3rd in a row, since the addition of our new girl Mallory! A group effort, 8 players had 2 or more hits lead by Javier: 4-4, 2 runs & Will: 3-4 (game winning rbi single in the 6th)” Way to go 2nd Chance…keep on rolling!!

Hey, Let’s give Mike V a big ass round of applause for filling in for Godsy this week with the field work once again. This GUY!!! He opened up shop and stayed until the final game before heading to work

THIS Friday, Jude’s show hurry with the swift current  is @ Teddy’s from 7pm – 9pm!

Guest recap or preview spots are still open!
