Week 11 saw some good games with some shitty umpiring (Sam), a lot of long balls and a couple of good finishes…
11 AM
I thought the Gibson had a great chance in this one without the managerial stylings of Carly, who was away for the week (Sorry Carly, you have taken more shots at AT this season than Jake at a open bar). Doza jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the 1st and never looked back taking control with 17-4 lead after just 4 innings. The star of the game was Jay Silver, who went 6-6 and pitched a stellar game with a badly pulled hamstring. He actually pulled it giving birth to his new baby boy. Congrats Jay!! HR’s by Pete Hoffman and Pat Snajder. Final score 22-6.
AT @ Black Betty
As much as I want to say this is a grudge match, I cannot. I love everyone on the Betty. AT came out firing on all pistons scoring in the the 1st 3 innings, but BB, showing resiliency behind Cap. Camarra, who responded with a 3-run bomb in the bot. of the 1st, and BB outlasted the All-Stars. HR’s by Becker, Steven and AT’s Jona-thang, Ersin, & Justin The Stick. I also had a double and two triples (hey… not my fault I had one of my best hitting games the week I get to write the recap, so fuck it). Final score BB 20-13.
1pm
Spike Hill @ 2nd Chance
O’Malley scrambled & promised the world to any team that would play him when Rbar couldn’t make their scheduled game, you BUMS!!!!. Credit to Al Bizzy for taking on the challenge, even though they would play again at 3 pm. The Saloon gave a valiant effort, having some good innings with solid hits. Miles flashed plenty of leather at SS, but SH would have none of it, going on a few hit parades. And further proving that you don’t need testicles to hit home runs, some pink haired girl hit a 2-run jack, I have no idea who she is. Perhaps some of us males should think about getting the boys chopped off. Final score The Hill 23-9.
2nd Chance @ TNT
With league patriarch Vinny and a drunk-ass AT rooting hard for the Saloon to get their first win of the season, this was the Game of the Week. With several lead changes & a tied score in the bottom of the 9th, TNT’s Big Kevin, having homered earlier in the game, came thru again, scoring 3 runs and pulling off the exciting walk-of victory with a controversial last play of the game at the plate!!!
Final Score TNT 15-14. (This was the 5th game 2nd Chance has lost in such fashion, they could be a dangerous team come bracket time. Keep at it Al and crew!!! Good news: Kat still loves Buttah, I think, just win a few games to make sure…)
3pm
3 Kings @ Clems
Clemerica won the battle of the Black & White! Paulie Guns made the play of the game with a diving grab in deep center field, robbing 3 King’s Billy of a 3-run homer. Breeze attempted the same catch on the next hit, but tripped on his beard. With 5 lead changes, it was a walk off win for the Battleship! Sam is still waiting for his 30 bucks from Matty and 3K.
Final score: Clem 13-12.
Good Co. @ Petes
Trying to get a recap from Good Co. is like trying to get Big Rob to buy you a beer. Holy shit!!!! The emails from both teams included: I am not sure. I cannot remember. Can anyone remember? And, I don’t know ask Wally. Finally, got something though…Mike V. hit a dinger and Wally stopped smiling long enough to also homer. And I know we love the HR leader board, but it has not been updated in like 5 weeks!!! I think someone hid Cesar’s keyboard and put it out of his reach (INSERT JOKE HERE).
Final score: The Pinks 14-6.
At first when I saw Winston starting at catcher, I thought why?? Then I figured it was a good move in case he wanted to nap in between pitches. I mean he is like 65 yrs old at this point, the elderly need their rest. TN relied on the long ball all day with HR’s by last years champ, Mike Kornhauser, his 1st of the season, Zac, Louis and Bryan “Fuck Hey!!” Helm. The Nest defense was lead by Trish at 2B and was very sharp, holding the Yetis to only 5.
Final score: R2R 25-8
