Everyone Wins When Cesar Is The Trophy!!

Only 5 more weeks left until the playoffs. Time is flying by and opportunities are being lost. Spike Hill, Reel 2 Reel & Turkey’s Nest have pulled ahead of the pack in the North, but the South is still keeping it really tight. It was a beautiful Sunday at the park and none of us wanted to go home. So we didn’t. Here’s how the day went down:

The Nest finished off 2nd Chance for the 2nd time this season to start off the day. But the real news here was that Turkey Shaffer and The Commish have been hard at work on a 2012 Calendar to go with next season’s schedule that will include some wondrously, playful illustrations! Thanks guys, we can’t wait!!

Next up the All Stars were looking to sweep Betty, but fell short by a run. AT might not have brought home the W this week, but All Star Gerald definitely took home the Trophy! Black Betty is still in first – 1 game over ‘Doza in the South.

Melissa rides the unicorn to victory!

In the North, Good Co rode into McCarren on a 4 game losing streak…and a new team Mascot! This earned Melissa the Recap of the Week.

“For the first two innings the teams each went tit-for-tat scoring runs back and forth.  It looked like it might be a nailbiter. Tommy from Three Kings then gave us (and everyone down the right field line) a scare when he hit a spectacular bomb that nearly killed someone’s grandma!! Luckily she was lifted from her shady spot on the century bench and whisked to safety by a gallant EJ. After a big inning (around the 4th) Good Co. took the lead and never lost it, racking up the runs on multiple 2-out rallies and riding it in on the pitching and bats of Patrick and Sam, who each tossed half a game. Joe Fashion has batted about .999 over the past 3-4 games and continued his streak, knocking in clutch RBIs and making a couple of wicked catches in the outfield, which, for panache, he made look fancy : )  We were very happy to pull up to .500!  Go Pinks!”

The Good Co 2012 Uni’s with tutu attachments are on back-order but will be in by opening day which delighted Joe Fashion as he let out a, “SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!” and Mike V has officially been transferred to the lady quarters due to his Firehouse’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

Finishing off the 1PM Slots for the South, Clem’s played a close match with Mendoza but fell by a single run. Breeze, trying to prove to the rest of his team that they play better after a few Nestaritas hasn’t heard that they lost yet, so someone needs to volunteer to break the bad news to him. He’ll be at Clem’s…’til next Sunday @ 12:45PM.

Possibly the best game ever.

Everyone was too busy playing in the 1st ever Big Bud Bowlathon over on Field One to watch the rest of the games, so thank goodness we have recaps! This was a very heated tourney with only one tweak to the rules after a 6 year old strolled up and threw a ringer on his first try. New rule: You have to chuck it at the cups as opposed to just rolling it into them. Women & random 6 year olds still came out victorious, but word on the block is that O’Malley is already assembling new prospects for team “Spike Cup” next week so, watch out little children!

Speaking of Spike Hill…they beat the Gibson, big woop. O’Malley wins the Birthday Battle and I guess I owe him a cake or something. They remain in first place in the South one game ahead of The Nest & Reel 2 Reel.

There can only be one birthday victor!

Lebron hit two McCarren homers and Matt and Leo both had one a piece. The Spike Hill ladies had 9 hits between the 3 of them.

Across the way, “Not even the cool tailwinds of softballs hit by the teachers could keep the Pete’s from wilting in the heat.” The Turkey’s Teachers gobble up the Candystore in an ol’ fashioned butt whoopin. Petes is now 6th in the South, two games ahead of TNT.

In the Game of the Week the Yeti’s put an end to the RBar 5 game winning steak. Baby-Boy’s midnight recap went along the lines of this: “Yoooooo….I don’t know! *giggle-giggle* Our girls were amazzzzing, Yo. They played sooo good and shit. Yeeeah-man. RBar is gooood, but we won, yo, I’m so proud of my team.”
Trivia Time!!
Question: Who’s better than Baby-Boy?
Answer: Nobody.

Lastly, Reel 2 Reel beat out the Loggers. Cesar biked up late in the sixth in flip-flops to hit a HR in the 8th, but 4D was short players and runs. The Loggers have been looking for a win since week #11 and still have yet to come up with one. Reel 2 Reel just keeps on winning & winning & winning.

…And that’s a wrap! Hit us back on Friday for the preview!
