WSL Home Run Leader, Bobby, Goes DEEP, Yet Again!

I knew last season was hot, but DAMN, our WSL boys obviously weren’t just busy ballin’ at the park! McCarren was litter-ly PACKED with new babies to boast for this Father’s Day! I ran into Cindy & Taylor’s lil’ Frank on my way to my game where Mitch & Kate’s lil man Wyatt, was showing off his new baby brother Avery. Then I headed over to field 1 to play a couple of innings for the Nest where John Louis’ Christie was busy with the playbook and her little bun in the oven, before I once again footed back over and under the tree to share Violet Camarra babysitting duties with Mrs. Big Dave-Vanessa who is also expecting a lil brother for Dahlia and where super-cutie Jay & Becca’s Jacob Silver pretty much stole my heart <3.

Unfortunately, I had to cut out early and didn’t get to see Ronan’s new brother Dylan & Javier’s lil Liam having a Happy Father’s Day with their daddies over at the Pete’s/86ers 5PM match up! WHEW! It was such a beautiful day we didn’t even mind that our older more mobile children took our new-baby distraction as an opportunity to slosh through the cesspool being transferred from the sidewalk right into the good dugout on Field 2. Ahh Well.

Gibson came through with their promise and gave Commish Godsy a win for his belated Bday and even made him look good at short for a couple innings. You’re welcome! I even let Jay Silver strike me out as a Fathers Day gift. I just hope they don’t expect this treatment when we meet again in 2013…or else they’ll be sorry!! ‘Doza sweeps the North and settles into a sweet 2nd place in the South.

Battleship Clemerica Sails into McCarren Park

Battleship Clemerica sailed into Spike Hill and really gave them a scare. They took advantage of Spike Hill’s early game errors by hitting some BOMBS to clear the bases and tie it up 6-6 in the 5th. Clems’ Wiggins hit a shot that CF Powell had to play around the Gibson catcher’s feet on the opposite field. What we weren’t aware of thus far is that Markowski, Clem’s All Star SS came off the DL in week #11 and I’m sure has had quite a bit of impact on their cross division play. (Those sneaky bastards!) Anyway, Spike Hill were up 11-7 going into the 8th when Clems scored 3 again on a HR and The Hill came right back scoring 3 of their own and then held Clemerica’s top of the order for the win! Spike Hill rolls on with the best record of the league!

Over on field A Turkey’s Nest were up a few runs on the AT All Stars when Catcher Khaki showed up and I headed out. What I do remember is that AT was lining almost everything back to Turkey’s Nest pitcher Zach whom I heard desperately shout out, “You know there are other guys to hit the ball to on this team besides me!!”  AT exits the North with only one win over the Gibson (yawn) and looking at a tough match up next week with Pete’s as they come back to their division play. The Nest is tied for 2nd with Reel2Reel in the North.

Pat Prepares to Spin it Good

Black Betty and Good Co faced off for the first time this year in a tightly matched contest. Although there has been quite a rivalry for sometime between these two teams, you could almost say this game was quite cordial. Good Co jumped out to an early lead while The Betty struggled to figure out their ace pitcher Pat, who was throwing wicked backward spinny pitches. It came down to the last inning, top of the 9th, a runner on, 2 outs, The Betty was down by one when Benny Ballgame launched a deep fly to right, which ended up letting Benny get all the way around and gave The Betty the lead. In the bottom of the 9th inning The Betty managed to hold Good Co and escaped with the win and currently stand in first place, only ahead by Runs For.

D-Lo Showing Off Her Latest Nail Design

RBar has cleaned house in the North going 4 – 0! The 4D Loggers took the early lead on a long

home run to right by Al, but The Bums responded quickly with back to back home runs by Mikey Black and Teddy Browne.  The game remained close until the start of the sixth, after that The Rbar would outscore the Loggers 18 to 2 to win the game 25 to 6. Slappy picks up another HR to pull ahead of t

he pack.  After the game, the Loggers headed on over to the R-bar to throw back a few and show their true sportsmanship.

*Soft Spot vs Reel 2 Reel – Please read below.

Three Kings came right out looking to take their team to .500, but the Turkey’s Teachers didn’t make it easy. Both teams knocked in a couple runs in each of the early innings, but the Kings defense was on point with some great plays by Mike McNelis and Jodi Vitale @ 2B who’s been hot in last two games. Three Kings were up 9-3 in the eighth when the Teachers rallied back with a 3 run homer and another RBI making it 9-7! They held the Kings in the last inning and then scored another in the 9th, making it a one run ballgame, but they left the game tying & winning runs on the field. 3 Kings steal their 3rd straight and Billy Gruarin tacks on another 2 dingers to the leader board!

With the day’s relentless heat carrying on into the five o’clock games, the stands cleared out by the third inning of the Pete’s vs. 86ers match-up. The Candy Store advances to .600 and The 86ers are running out of playoff chances…

Hooray for Babies!!
